In the south of the Midi-Pyrénées region, Hotel Le Montaigu welcomes you to an outstanding place where you’ll be able to discover unique places and undertake numerous activities. First, enjoy the rich culture and history of our village, Luz Saint-Sauveur. As you wander the village, admire the Église des Templiers church built between the 12th and 13th centuries, as well as the Pont Napoléon bridge linking the two banks of the Gave de Gavarnie and built at the request of Napoleon III. There’s also the Solférino chapel, also built by order of Napoleon III, and overlooking the village, the ruins of the Château Sainte-Marie dating back to the 10th century. You can also enjoy the village’s thermal baths, used since the 16th century and a listed historic monument. Its waters are rich in noble gases, sulphur and mineral salts, and are still recommended for certain ailments.
Leaving the village, there are several stunning sites worth exploring. Go and admire the majesty of the Cirque de Gavarnie, the splendour of the Pic de Midi de Bigorre and the beauty of the Néouvielle nature reserve. In summer, these exceptional natural spaces are perfect for hiking, cycling and many other sports - try your hand at climbing, canyoning, paragliding and fishing, to name but a few.
In winter, spend hours on the slopes of the ski resorts close to Luz Saint-Sauveur (Luz Ardiden, Grand Tourmalet and Gavarnie). And whatever the time of year, take a trip to Lourdes to visit one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Christianity, with its different sanctuaries and castle. Just 30 kilometres from the hotel.
